HOW
TO NOT LET "LIFE" STOP YOU
By: Natasha Haughton-Allrich, Co-Founder of Vision Manifest.com
While washing the dishes Sunday afternoon I overheard
my husband having a conversation with a friend about being true
to yourself. While not intentionally ease dropping (I promise
I wasn’t J) I overheard him saying, “being true
to yourself is not letting life stop you, no matter what.” How
profound! I felt in my spirit… that is a great topic
for today.
As the end of the year approaches, very soon 2007 will be a memory. How
it is remembered will be different for everyone. Some people
will be overjoyed and will easily celebrate into the New Year,
while others will feel reflective, or have feelings of defeat
and sadness, yet another year passing by. Each of us are
more powerful, more creative, more talented than we give ourselves
credit for. My prayer for you is that you are celebrating
the close of 2007 and embracing 2008 with open arms.
In order to do that it will take a shift in habits, and a bit
of strategic action on your part. As a coach and someone
who cares about you, your well being and your success, I am here
to help and offer you some tips on how to do just that. You
can use the following as a daily reminder and incentive to move
forward with precision and power.
- Know that “life” is not
meant to stop you. Now
the definition “life” can be any example, for
this instance---I would like for you to think about a challenge
you are facing. It could be inner conflict with a decision
you have been putting off, a business relationship that has
gone sour, the overwhelming pile of bills needing your attention,
your clutter, or even poor eating habits. Whatever it
is, know that NONE of these things are meant to stop you. In
fact, they are mere indicators to move you forward into action.
- Remember ALL things work together for
good! Yes,
it is not just a saying, it’s true. I remember one particular
weekday during my eighth month of pregnancy, my husband and
I were on our way to our weekly prenatal visit and while commuting
on a busy street we were suddenly hit by a car from behind.
The impact instantly slammed us into the car in front of us. Now
in the end, it was ALL GOOD I promise you—keep reading! Initially,
I had to stay overnight at the hospital because I suddenly
began to have contractions and needed to be monitored for
twenty-four hours.
As a result of staying overnight at the hospital, I was able
to witness many things, particularly how I was being treated
as a patient. The treatment was below satisfactory and
I was super concerned that my vision to have a peaceful and
natural childbirth was in jeopardy. Fast forward one week
later, I decided to switch hospitals to one I felt was more
aligned with my vision. I was much more at ease and comforted
that if all goes well I would be able to have a natural water
birth experience.
Three weeks later we had our daughter, MiAngel, and the birthing
experience of our dreams. I did indeed have an all natural
water birth and delivered an angel from heaven. I share
this with you simply to say, if it had not been for what seemed
to be a detrimental experience (a 3- way car accident), I would
not have sought another option for prenatal care. Again,
ALL things work together for good!!!
- Spend 90% of your time focused
on the solutions and possibility and ONLY 10% of your time
on the actual problem.
When I am coaching my clients, we begin each session sharing
celebrations. This alters the mind to already consider
celebrating success even in the midst of “life” happening
personally and professionally. Next, my clients will fill
me in on what they are being challenged by. We get that
out upfront so the remainder of the session can be focused on
solutions, strategies, intentions, options, possibilities and
next steps. Yes, it is important to acknowledge what you
are really experiencing; however, it’s a GREAT opportunity
to spend your time and focus tuned into the other 90% of options
that are available to you. . ., And there are MANY,
many options to shift any situation.
Based on these three tips, what action can you take to not let “life” stop
you?!?
Until next week,
